Do we have a chiropodist in the Well-being Centre?
We offer simple toenail cutting and foot health care services to help keep feet in good health. The services are provided by a qualified foot health care professional who is fully insured, following strict infection control procedures.
The foot health care service is available two days a week at the Well-being Centre, and by appointment only. Home visits are also available. Call 01304 614237 to book appointments.
Do we supply Lifeline / Community Personal Alarms?
Age Concern Sandwich does not supply Lifeline/Community alarms, but has information on several Lifeline personal alarms, Community alarms, emergency response systems alarm companies. Contact the Well-being centre for further information.
Where can I get hearing aid batteries from and help with my hearing aids?
Hi Kent run aftercare clinics for NHS hearing aids at the Age Concern Sandwich Well-being Centre. Their tea of volunteers will provide you with batteries, retubing to ear moulds, new domes and tubing (in some clinics), as well as general help and advice on how to care for your hearing aids. For dates and times, please call the Well-being Centre on 01304 614237.
Do we supply cleaners, handyperson, electrician?
We do not supply cleaners, handyman/person or electricians, however, we do have contact numbers for these services
How do I get Meals on Wheels, and how much are they?
Meals on Wheels enquiries are forwarded to our Charity Co-ordinator who manages the Meals on Wheels service. More about Meals on Wheels can be found here
What time are your shops open?
We have two charity shops. Shop Opening Hours:

Do we do home bathing?
Home bathing is not offered, however, we do offer fully assisted bathing with a trained member of staff in a safe, secure, warm and comforting environment. More information can be found here or call the Well-being Centre on 01304 614237.
Can we give advice on pension credit?
While we do not give advice on pension credit, we can signpost enquiries to the Information and Advice Officer from the Riverside Centre in Dover.
How do I set this up?
Please ring us on 01304 614237. We will ask you some questions (e.g. your details, emergency contact, your situation, your hobbies, what you hope to get out of this service etc). We will then check if we have a suitable, vetted volunteer that can be matched with you.
Please note that we currently have a waiting list of approx. 6-12 months. Once a volunteer has been identified, we will arrange an initial first visit, either with or without the coordinator being present. Future meetings can then be arranged and agreed to suit both parties.
How much is it for this service?
This service is totally free!
When can I expect to see someone?
We ask all our volunteers to see our client at least once a week, for approximately 1 hour. We currently have a waiting list of approx. 6-12 months.
What if I don’t get on with the volunteer? Or have an issue with them?
We regularly check with client and volunteer to make sure both parties are happy with how things are going. However, if you don’t ‘get on’ with the volunteer, or find that there is a problem, do let us know and we can action on this. Sometimes, we can offer to match you up with someone else, or suggest a different way to work for both parties.
How do I set up for having meals delivered?
Please ring us on 01304 614237. We will ask you some questions (e.g. your details, allergies, emergency contact, key-safe information, when you’d like to order etc) and we can set you up for future deliveries.
Do I have to have meals delivered everyday?
No, you can set up an automatic renewal where we will deliver everyday/set days and will substitute any allergies or foods that you can not eat, or you can pick and choose whichever days you would like to order. Please give us as much notice as possible
Do I have to have a pudding?
No, you can order just the main.
When do you deliver?
You can expect your lunch between 12-1pm. Sometimes delays can happen, if you have not received your meal by 1:15pm, do give us a call for an update.
Do you cover my area?
Generally, we cover the area on the Meals on wheels map, however, depending on availability of volunteer drivers, we may be able to deliver to areas outside of this. Please call us to check.
How do I pay for my meals?
We accept cash or cheque handed to the deliverer (please note that they do not carry any cash so please pay the exact money or we can hold change as credit for future use), payment by debit or credit card in the Centre, or online banking (standing order, bank transfer or payment link).
What if I have a special dietary requirement?
We can usually substitute a meal, if given enough notice. Please call us to check if we can cater for your special dietary needs.
How can I arrange for my loved one to come along to Sunflower Centre?

What happens in Sunflower Centre?
A typical day in the Sunflower Centre includes playing board games, arts and crafts, singing, reminiscence, boccia and socialising with others with similar experiences.
